Elektra Slot

I’m not one for gory violence, so Elektra is about my limit. It feels somewhat mercenary spilling blood to make money but at least it’s not real!

Elektra is part of the Marvel group of slots. Cryptologic created this series featuring the comic book heroes and it has been a roaring success. Whilst Elektra isn’t my favourite, it’s certainly got the elements of a good slot and if you’re a comic book fan you’ll be pounding away at this one to see your heroine land on the reels!

The slot itself is a 25 line, 5 reel, 3 visible symbol slot. The gameplay is relatively simple, with one in-game bonus and the progressive jackpots which are a running theme throughout the Marvel series.

Elektra herself is the wild symbol – in more ways than one… she’ll bridge the gaps to some nice wins (see the little test play screenshot where she comes up three times), and the little animation is her apparently slashing you open with your blood hitting the vicinity of the slot. Charming!

Rather like the sword of Zorro, the symbol for entering the bonus is a slashed out bloody ‘E’ (for Elektra, duh!). They call them the Scatter symbols (probably more than one connotation here too!). You need 3 of them, anywhere on the reels to enter the bonus.

The Bonus places you as Elektra in an extraordinarily busy and murky outdoor scene where Ninjas are running around in the way Ninjas do. Your task is to click the ‘Throw’ button whenever you feel like it to chuck a ‘Ninja Star’ (like cowboy boot spurs but even more lethal) at the Ninjas to splat them into the ground. Each dead ninja earns you a bonus amount. If you miss 5 times, it’s the end of the bonus.

Fast moving, the Bonus is done with pretty quickly. I’m pretty sure there’s not a lot of skill involved and your outcome is predetermined at the start but it’s still fun to act it out!

The other bonus, the ‘Marvel Jackpots’ consist of the ‘Hero’, ‘Super Hero’ and ‘Marvel Hero’ jackpots which work their way up in money, resetting when won at 50, 500 and 5000 coins respectively. These climb up with every player’s spin, so it’s good to remember that your payout percentage on these types of slot can be affected by the fact a proportion of your wager is topping up these jackpots.

Winning a Marvel Jackpot is completely random. Obviously the ‘Hero’ and ‘Super Hero’ are more commonly won, and the annoying fact is that you’re more likely to trigger one if you wager more money. It’s very sudden when you win though – you don’t need to have a winning spin at all, but at the end of a spin you’ll know about it as the graphic suddenly appears and your balance is suddenly up. It’s rare, but it does happen. If you like that kind of thing (and of course blood and guts), you can’t go far wrong with Elektra.
